Player notes · patch 1.2
sobosuba tips from public guides
I am not going to dress these up as developer advice. The lines below come from Noobly Walker’s late-game Steam guide (2026-10-15) unless another name is on the line. Menace123’s achievement guide agrees on bar merges. Both were written around the 1.2 rules. The 1.3 beta changes physics, so a tactic can go stale.
What the late-game guide repeats
- Fewer blobs on the field. Small numbers stuck on the bottom are hard to recover. Single author.
- Turn on start clutter if you want opening material in the 64–128 range, then clean down to one or two pieces. Single author. The setting itself is not given a number in the official patch notes I could cite.
- Light shots most of the time. Add force when a piece is stuck or you want a chain. That matches the store’s light-versus-heavy description, which is official. The “most of the time” habit is the guide.
- Keep small numbers on the bar and drop large ones. You can shoot upward to delay a drop, or shove the bar sideways to free a spawner. Single author, with Menace123 also describing bar merges.
- A foundation of three or four large pieces, the example given is 4096 + 2048 + 1024, so small blobs cannot flip the bottom. Single author.
- After 16384, do not park anything on top of it or you hit the switches. 16384 + 4096 is called a weak foundation. Single author.
Two notes that match more than one player
Cancel a bad aim with right-click, or pull the arrow back to center past the threshold (itch page, patch 1.2, and the developer’s trackpad reply). A safety spawn fires when both spawners are blocked and the bar is empty. Noobly Walker and developer keepeetron in the linked Suncle thread describe that as the anti-softlock, and as dangerous when the pile is already high. The achievement “praise the suncle” uses that spawn on purpose.
Air-merge achievements want a quarter-second with no contact. That duration is the official achievement text, not a tip.
Rules first: how to play. The clip list: high scores.
Apply advice to the situation
For a recoverable match near the surface, the soft-shot description supports careful positioning. When a piece is trapped, the developer's hard-shot description supports trying force; the player guide supplies the tactical judgment about when it is worthwhile. Neither source provides a calibrated force setting, so this page does not invent one.
Before using a late-game tactic for a challenge, check the exact achievement condition. A strategy for a large stack may work against a clean-stack objective. The source guides concern the 1.2 era, while the beta notes describe subsequent changes. Their advice remains dated player guidance.
